nice groups though i think you should put a group between officer and civillian and another one above officer.

maybe soldier between civie and must be active and post 50 posts. (yea up the officers post needed to 100)

The groups are as they are because they are all functional.
Civilian is used to distinguish new members that dont know the forum well yet.
Officer is meant for regular members (not-newbies).

I would prefer not to make any groups with no particular use... but you did gave me an idea there.
There should be also additional group to divide community into newbies, regular members and people who are old loyal members.

I think I could make it:
0-30 posts - Civilian
30-500 posts - Officer
500+ posts - Veteran (or some other name.)

Im not sure about the name of the third group though.
I thought maybe Veteran or Captain (current Captain would be changed to Commodore then.).

What do you think about this idea?


There is also a matter of titles.
Currently there is a set of titles changing depending on your postcount: Newcommer, Member, Fan, Loyal Fan, VIP Fan, "Blue Sun" Maniac.
There is also possibility to change your title into custom one using store item.

Im thinking about removing all titles leaving only "No title set" and letting members use their custom titles.
Keeping those "Blue Sun" related also seems nice though so Im not sure what to do about them.

change those to ship class names. like newbies are scouts and build up the line to battlecruiser. also it will effect with the RPG forum game which changes the ship names to what race you picked.

True, but still Im not sure. Making it captain would keep this group as a military rank.
Veteran is just a soldier with a lot of expirience. He must have some rank besides that.
But in the end I guess you're right with Veteran. Its more informative.

Well it is an option but I think Id prefer to keep those "Blue Sun" related.
Anyway I guess I didnt express what I meant clear enough.
Im thinking about one of three options:
1. Keep the "ladder" titles + custom titles allowed (like it is now).
2. Keep only "ladder" titles.
3. Make all users start with an empty title and allow customs.
The thing is that custom titles are kinda messing up the purpose of ladder as most members will probably use customs as soon as they can afford it.

I have given up on the role-playing game. At least for now.
It's an additional complication which isn't really needed at the moment.
I might consider bringing it back later when the forum gets more active.
